GENERAL NATHAN BEDFORD FORREST Civil War Print by Don Troiani
In February 1862, Forrest’s unit was stationed at Fort Donelson on the Cumberland River when General US Grant forced its surrender. Rather than give up Forrest and his men slipped away, through the snow, and fought at the Battle of Shiloh less than two months later. He began to make raids that made him the single most feared cavalry commander of the entire war and earned him the nickname “the wizard of the saddle.” Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest is shown travelling through a snowy Tennessee forest on horseback by artist Don Troiani . Comes with Certificate of Authenticity. The battle flags of the Army of Northern Virginia are in the scene.
