Historical Marker to Be Erected on Bader Field to Civil Air Patrol

City Council will vote on a resolution to designate a historical marker at Bader Field on the 75th anniversary of the Civil Air Patrol and the establishment of Coastal Patrol Base Number One.  In 1941, just before the start of World War II, Bader Field was used as part of a 90-day experiment to organize civilian pilots to defend the country, along with Base Two in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and Base Three in Lantana, Florida.

The marker, a metal 4x4 road sign with a narrative about the site’s historical significance, will be placed at the foot of the Albany Avenue bridge.
